Privacy Policy

Manifess (“we”, “us”) writes personal affirmations and guided sessions from what you tell us, and reads them to you. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@manifess.app.

What we collect

Your account. Your first name, email address and password. We store your password only as a scrambled hash, never as you typed it. We also save your time zone, so sessions and reminders arrive at the right local time.

What you tell us. Your questionnaire answers (the areas of life you chose, where things are, what you want, and the rest), your tone and spiritual-language choices, and any reflections you write or speak. From these we make your profile, your declaration and your seven daily themes, which you can see and edit in Settings.

Voice answers. When you tap the mic, the recording is sent to OpenAI to be turned into text. We keep the text, not the recording.

Your sessions. The words and audio of each session we make for you. The audio is made on our own server with an open-source voice and isn’t sent to anyone else.

How you use the app. Which sessions you finished (for your streak), your session times and voice, when you last opened the app, and simple daily counts (for example, how many times you made a session again) so we can keep fair limits.

Reminders. If you turn on reminders, your browser gives us a delivery address for your device. Reminders travel through your browser’s push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla, depending on your device). The message is encrypted, so the push service can’t read it.

Reports. If you report a session, we save your report together with the session it’s about.

Technical information. Like any website, our servers see your IP address and browser details when you connect. We use your IP address briefly to limit repeated sign-in attempts and don’t store it with your account. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs for a short time.

On your device. The app uses one cookie, to keep you signed in. It also saves a few things in your browser’s storage, like answers not yet sent and where you paused the audio. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.

How we use it

• To write, narrate and save your sessions, and to show your history and streak.
• To send the reminders you ask for.
• To keep your account secure, prevent abuse and keep daily limits fair.
• To reply when you contact us, and to send account emails like password resets.

We don’t use your answers for advertising, and we don’t sell or rent your information.

Who helps us

We share information only with the services that run Manifess, and only what each one needs:

• OpenAI writes your declaration, themes and sessions, turns voice answers into text, and checks reflections for signs that you may be thinking about hurting yourself, so the app can show you where to get help. It receives your first name, your answers, profile and declaration, recent reflections, and voice recordings. OpenAI’s terms for its API say it doesn’t use this data to train its models, and it keeps it only for a limited time, mainly to watch for abuse. See openai.com/policies. We send nothing to OpenAI until you agree.
• Railway hosts our servers and audio files in the United States.
• Supabase hosts our database (your account, answers, sessions and history) in the United States, and confirms Google sign-ins.
• Google Sign-In, if you choose “Continue with Google”, confirms your Google account and shares your name and email address with us. We don’t receive your Google password or anything else from your account.
• Resend sends account emails, such as password reset links. It receives your email address and the message.
• Google Fonts supplies the app’s typefaces, so your browser connects to Google to load them, and Google sees your IP address.
• Push services from Google, Apple or Mozilla deliver your reminders, encrypted.
• Apple and Google, if you get the app from the App Store or Google Play, handle the download and any purchases under their own privacy policies.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Manifess, in which case this policy keeps applying to your information.

How long we keep it

• Your account, answers, profile and session words: until you delete your account.
• Session audio: 30 days. Then the file is deleted; the words stay, and you can make the audio again.
• Daily usage counts: about a week.
• Password reset links: they stop working after an hour.

When you delete your account, we delete your account, answers, sessions, audio, reports and reminder subscriptions right away. Copies in our hosting provider’s backups, if any, expire on their normal schedule.

Your choices and rights

• See and change your profile and declaration in Settings, or retake the questionnaire.
• Turn reminders off in your browser or phone settings, or by signing out on that device.
• Delete your account in Settings, under Your account. This can’t be undone.
• Ask us for a copy of your information, or anything else about this policy, at hello@manifess.app. We’ll reply within 30 days.

Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have more rights, such as to object to or limit some uses of your information. Email us and we’ll help. You won’t be treated differently for asking.

Children

Manifess is for people 13 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Security

We use encrypted connections, store passwords only as hashes, and keep each person’s sessions and audio private to their account. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don’t use anywhere else.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
